Business via BusOne at the Surrey Campus
A unique way to begin your Business degree.
The Beedie School of Business at the Surrey campus provides a unique first year experience to all incoming Business students through an interdisciplinary program called BusOne. Students will complete their first year Business requirement courses while having the flexibility to choose electives that interest them. With smaller class sizes and an emphasis on extra-curricular involvement, students will feel more comfortable in their first year at SFU.
What are the benefits to joining the BusOne program?
Students who join the BusOne program at the Surrey campus will experience:
- a supportive and engaging first year transition
- priority registration access to Business courses at the Surrey campus
- smaller class sizes with a focus on participatory learning
- increased contact with professors and teaching assistants
- additional extra-curricular opportunities that will allow students to reach their full potential
What courses will I take in the BusOne program?
In the first year of study at the Surrey campus, BusOne students will be required to complete the following courses:

| Econ 103 – Principles of Microeconomics | Bus 251 – Financial Accounting I |

| Engl/Phil course from the requirement list | Elective |
| Optional elective | Optional elective |
In addition, weekly meetings will be held that will focus on three areas of growth: academic, personal and social. Topics that may be covered include career exploration, choosing a concentration, getting to know your professor, time management skills, study strategies, stress management, presentation skills, physical activity, service learning and opportunities to give back to the community.
What happens after the BusOne progam?
As Beedie School of Business students, the BusOne program participants will be free to take their courses at either the Burnaby or Surrey campus while they finish their degree requirements. However, BusOne students who were originally part of the Surrey-based program, will maintain the benefit of having priority registration access to Business courses at the Surrey campus.
Who is eligible for the BusOne program?
All first year students who have been admitted into the Beedie School of Business.

The Business via BusOne program gives you an excellent way to begin your first year of business at SFU Surrey. However, you are also welcome to take any of these other first year program options at the Surrey campus to begin your Business degree: Business via Explorations or Business via Science Year One.
