Close to Home

The SFU Surrey Close to Home Awards Endowment Fund was established at Simon Fraser University in 2007 through a generous contribution from Dale Regehr.  The goals of the SFU Surrey Close to Home Entrance Awards are to attract well qualified students to the University, to further develop SFU's relationships with BC high schools and to promote awareness of the new cohort programs and degrees of SFU Surrey.

The SFU Surrey Close to Home Entrance Awards encourage South Fraser students to continue their education by rewarding those with high academic achievement, demonstrated leadership and community involvement.  A fundraising campaign is underway to create a 2 million dollar endowment to support these student awards.

This year's fundraiser, took place on May 10th and 17th, 2012. Stay tuned for information on next year's fundraiser!

Students in all areas of British Columbia are eligible to apply.  Preference will be given to those residing in locations south of the Fraser River.

Awards will be made annually from a portion of the income earned from the Endowment Fund.  The balance of earned interest will be reinvesting in the Endowment Fund to protect its value over time.

“The university benefits from being a part of the Surrey community just as much as Surrey benefits from our presence,” says Executive Director of SFU Surrey, Joanne Curry.
