Professional Development Program (PDP)

The Professional Development Program (PDP) is our distinguished teacher education program dedicated to the development of outstanding teachers – responsible professionals who help to prepare children and youth to be full participants in our society.

PDP is a three-semester program consisting of both practicum experience and professional coursework. The combination of both theory and practice is integral to the understanding of important educational ideas and their application to classroom practice. When student teachers successfully complete the program, they are recommended to the British Columbia College of Teachers to receive a BC Teaching Certificate.

We live in a diverse society. PDP values the diversity that students and teachers bring with them into our classrooms and have a strong commitment to social justice and anti-racism. Our PDP community consists of faculty members, seconded school district personnel, and classroom teachers, ensuring a strong connection with school districts. We encourage applicants who are committed to delivering exceptional educational experiences that help to shape the future of our society.
