Programs at Surrey
SFU offers undergraduate and graduate programs at the Surrey campus in Applied Sciences, Arts and Social Sciences, Business Administration, Communication, Art and Technology, Education, and Science, as well as a variety of Continuing Studies programs.
At the undergraduate level - Surrey’s focus at the undergraduate level is first year programs – programs delivered in smaller classes – that provide students with outstanding academic support. These programs encourage students to get to know each other and to create their own community of learners. Students in these programs are guaranteed access to core (required) courses.
SFU Surrey offers a full range of first-year programs.
- Explorations provides an innovative introduction to the Arts and Social Sciences, with a special focus on approaches to research.
- Global Issues First Year Learning Community (FLC) combines first year courses in World Literature, International Studies (IS), and History. It is designed for students curious about global problems and a possible career in Literature, History, IS or Political Science.
- Social and Behavioural Sciences FLC combines first year courses in Cognitive Science, Psychology and Sociology. It is for students interested in how people interact individually or in communities as well as a possible career in Criminology, Law, Psychology or other social sciences.
- BusOne is a cohort program which allows Business students to move through their first year together. Students in the BusOne cohort complete Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Business in the Networked Economy, Financial Accounting, Calculus, and two English or Philosophy courses.
- TechOne is well known for blending hands-on and technical approaches. TechOne is the first year of a major in Interactive Arts and Technology.
- Systems One is a technologically innovative program that combines core courses in both Mechatronics and Software Systems to provide a streamlined pathway for students entering their first year of studies in Applied Sciences.
- Science Year One provides smaller classes for the first year of a Science degree.
At the graduate level - SFU offers a number of course and research-based programs for students who have completed their undergraduate degrees and would like to further their knowledge and expertise.
