In Your Second Year

Students interested in the life sciences will register in at least two of the following Surrey Science courses in each semester:

KIN 142-3 Introduction to Kinesiology

MBB 222-3  Molecular Biology & Biochemistry

Other Surrey BPK, STAT, & MATH courses may be substituted

STAT 201-3 Statistics for the Life Sciences

LSY2 Details                                                     

  • Students completing Science Year One and Life Sciences Year Two have the opportunity to complete the majority of the lower division requirements for majors in Biological Sciences or Molecular Biology and Biochemistry (MBB), as well as courses towards Biomedical Physiology & Kinesiology (BPK/KIN)
  • Life Sciences Year Two is also appropriate for students intending to apply to Dentistry, Medical School, Veterinary School, Pharmacy, Chiropractic or Optometry
  • Apart from the courses mentioned above to be taken at Surrey, students may take any electives from SFU at Surrey, Burnaby, or the Centre for Distance Education, which will fit their schedule.  WQB electives are recommended

  • Students interested in Mathematics, including Operations Research & Applied Statistics, are also eligible for to be classified as Surrey students.  Contact Nadia at nadia_williams@sfu.ca if interested
