Krisandra Reid

BA Candidate, World Literature Major

World Literature is a wonderful, unique program here at SFU. It gives students the opportunity to learn about how cultures interact with one another, while applying it to all facets of life. One of my favorite things about the program is how malleable it is as far as pertaining to individual interests. World Literature is very interdisciplinary, with a variety of focuses within the program and within individual courses as well. There has been considerable overlap with history and geography courses I'm also taking.

As a scholarship student, this interdisciplinary option is an asset.  I have the freedom and flexibility to focus on what interests me most. One of the ideas behind world literature is incorporating works that have been acclaimed outside of their countries of origin; as a result, many have a global appeal instead of just local. I thoroughly appreciate having chosen to pursue a World Literature Major.
