Stephanie Guzman

TechOne, SIAT

“I had heard stories of kids being overwhelmed by the size of classes and the size of the university and found that not to be the case at SFU Surrey and at TechOne specifically,” says Stephanie Guzman, first year TechOne student.

Stephanie has just completed her first year of studies at TechOne and SFU Surrey.  She really enjoyed her first year and would recommend it to other first year students.  She says, “I think the small class sizes and the fact that you work in teams made my first year great.  I got to meet people; I got to know my professors and overall had a great experience.”

Stephanie is planning on going into Interactive Arts and Technology (SIAT), taking the Media Arts Stream.  She wants to be somewhere where she can be creative and use computers at the same time and SIAT was the perfect fit for her.  “I was looking for a program that incorporated design and the use of computers, and that’s when I found interactive arts and technology at SFU Surrey.  I looked into it and liked it!”

She is looking forward to her next few years at SIAT and SFU Surrey and plans on taking part in coop and some of the field schools.  She says, “I live in Maple Ridge but plan on staying at SFU Surrey.  It may take me a while to get here, but I’d rather go to school here because of the great program, atmosphere, the friendships I’ve made and the access to professors and facilities.”
